The Office of Information Technology has named Leif Nelson interim director of Research Computing Services. In addition to this role, Nelson will continue to serve in his current role as executive director of Learning Technology Solutions.

“Leif is very involved in faculty outreach and support, and also heads up our AI in Education task force. He will provide excellent leadership and continuity as we move forward,” said Max Davis-Johnson, associate vice president of information technology and chief information officer.

Nelson has been a part of the Office of Information Technology leadership team for nine years and has worked at Boise State for over ten years. In his current role, he oversees the people, projects and systems used by campus for teaching, testing, training and learning technology. He is actively involved in campus committees and efforts related to affordable learning materials, accessibility, faculty development and support, and, most recently, artificial intelligence.

Nelson earned his Doctorate of Education in Educational Technology from Boise State in 2019 and has taught courses in leadership, education and information science. Other accomplishments include speaking engagements at conferences and events such as Educause and 1EdTech, and features in industry publications like Educause Review, Edsurge and Hybrid Pedagogy.
